Peter A. Furst
Born in the Dominican Republic, grew up in New York City, attended college both in New York City and Puerto Rico, returning to New York to pursue a Master’s Degree in bilingual education. Peter attended law school in Washington, D.C. where he was also the first employee of the National Center for Law and the Deaf, during which time he became proficient in sign language and remained involved in legal issue affecting the deaf for many years thereafter. He practiced law in New York City for 12 years before moving west. During those
12 years, Peter, who is fluent in Spanish, was an assistant district attorney in New York
County,where he was the Chief of a specialized unit known as the Spanish Language
Unit, an entertainment law litigator for the firm of Parcher and Herbert, and a named
partner in the firm of Gould, Reimer & Furst. Peter has experience in various areas of
the law, concentrating now in family and criminal law, although he continues to practice
in various other areas. For the last 14 years, Peter has lived and worked in the San
Franisco Bay Area.
During his almost 26 years of practice, Peter has tried more than 125 jury trials to
verdict, including a recent
six-month capital case where he obtained a life verdict for his client, and has also tried
criminal and civil cases
to judges without a jury.
In the area of family law, Peter has litigated hundreds of cases involving property
disputes, custody, visitation, support, and contempt.
Peter has settled or obtained judgments in civil cases in excess of $500,000.00.
Margaret A. Pendergast
Margaret, better known as “Peggy,” is a native San Franciscan, who attended
undergraduate and law school in San Francisco. She is the mother of a 20-year old
daughter, and was a teacher in the San Francisco Unified School District for 14 years
before going on to become an attorney.
