Windows Media Video (WMV): In this project we utilize the Windows Media Video format to succesfully deliver streaming video over the Internet.

Watch the Window Media Video (you will need Window Media Player. Get the player here.)
Flash Video (FLV): This is an approximately 40 minute long video we compressed for the internet from a client's VHS tape. We used the new flash video format called: *.FLV. The video is streaming and allows you to use video media controls.

Glossary
Advanced Streaming Format (or ASF) is Microsoft's proprietary audio/video wrapper, especially meant for streaming. It doesn't specify how the video or audio should be encoded, but instead just specifies the structure of the video/audio stream. What this means is that ASF files can be encoded with basically any audio/video codec and still would be in ASF format.
Many cases ASF is confused with Microsoft's own implementation of MPEG-4 video format, because most of the ASF streams are encoded using this technology.
QuickTime Video: QuickTime Video is a file format used for the delivery of video, animation, and sound through a webpage or web site. QuickTime files use an excellent compression scheme which makes them ideal for web use. Viewing QuickTime files on the web requires the download and installation of the QuickTime plug-in from the Apple Computer web site at www.apple.com/quicktime/download - Netscape's Navigator and Communicator web browsers already include this plug-in.
Streaming Video: Video or audio streaming means the files can be viewed before they are fully downloaded. Usually streaming works by downloading an initial portion of the file, known as a buffer, into the user's viewer or player. This application then begins playback of the file while the remainder continues to "fill in." Streaming video is a sequence of "moving images" that are sent in compressed form over the Internet and displayed by the viewer as they arrive.
Windows Media Video (WMV) is a generic name for the set of streaming video technologies developed and controlled by Microsoft. This does not necessarily define what technology it uses -- from version 7 (WMV7) Microsoft has used its own non-standard version of MPEG-4. The DivX video format is originally based on cracked WMV codec. Usually WMV video is packed into an ASF (Active Streaming Format) container.
WMV files are customarily played by the proprietary Windows Media Player on Microsoft Windows and Macintosh systems.
